JOB SUMMARY:This is an OPS Paralegal Specialist position in the Department of Revenue's Child Support Program's Legal Services Process. The incumbent will provide quality customer service and safeguard confidential information. Provides legal assistance support for the attorneys in child support establishment, enforcement, and modification in judicial and administrative cases. Duties include maintaining case files; retrieving, interpreting, and updating case data from various systems; preparing a variety of legal documents for attorney signature; scheduling, attending, and assisting in judicial and administrative proceedings; initiating, receiving, and responding to communications with parties, court officials, clerk staff, opposing counsel, and Department staff; developing and/or maintaining data lists and databases; and any other duties necessary to provide legal services for child support cases.



+ High school diploma or equivalent;

+ Experience using Microsoft Office applications and performing computer system updates;

+ *One year of experience in: (a) providing legal assistance in an office or court environment, (b) reviewing and processing legal documents and/or correspondence, and (c) communicating with case parties, court officials, clerks of court, opposing attorneys, etc.


+ Vocational/technical training in the area of Paralegal/Legal studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience. A college education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required experience.


+ Preference will be given to applicants with Legal Assistant/Paralegal experience in Family Law/Child Support.
