PRIMARY FUNCTION



The employee shall provide support to NSWC PC for Production Machinery Mechanic and Electrical Shop.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



+ Maintenance and repairs on mechanical and hydraulic components of conventional and non-conventional machine tools and equipment.

+ Direct support in performing all maintenance in Code E43 shops.

+ General maintenance performed on a variety of simple and complex machine tools.

+ Research and order materials and parts as required for repairs.

+ Oiling and Lubricating machines, cleaning of machinery, changing of coolants and hydraulic oils.

+ Perform a weekly visual inspection of all shop safety equipment, and perform a monthly crane inspection.

+ Assist in installation, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and testing new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls and equipment.

+ The candidate will also assist in placing distribution panels, boxes, fittings, and connections and install wiring, couplings, conduit, relays, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices.

+ Other general duties of a lesser skill may be required during the course of employment

+ Comply with Shop policy concerning regular work area cleanliness and weekly cleanups.



+ The candidate shall use shop equipment in a safe and proper manner IAW NSWC PC safety requirements and shop policies.

+ The candidate shall operator mobile equipment such as pickup trucks, provided by the government. Operators shall be licensed and certified in accordance with state law and NSWC PC regulations or instructions related to safety.

+ The candidate shall be required to operate Government equipment such as forklifts and heavy-duty vehicles, Cat 3-Non cab operated Cranes.



**Qualifications**



+ High School diploma

+ Experience and proficient in the repair and maintenance of lathes, milling machines, grinders, saws, hydraulic presses, radial arm drill presses, hydraulic brakes, shearing machines, punching machines, plate rolling machines, water jet cutting machine, welding machines, and computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines.

+ Experience and skills in the use in hand tools and portable power tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, strippers, drills, soldering irons, and manual or power conduit benders and threaders; and a variety of test equipment, for example, meggers, test lamps, and amp meters.

+ Electronic knowledge is required for CNC machines.

+ Must be able to troubleshoot to determine source(s) of trouble and type(s) of repairs needed

+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS - MUST BE ABLE TO MEET THIS REQUIREMENTS



+ Routine lifting and/or moving up to 45 pounds required. This effort also requires moderate to heavy manual work, or general shop tasks of a simple and routine nature, or the operation of a motor vehicle.

+ Electrical workers frequently lift and carry tools, equipment and parts that weigh up to 75 pounds.

+ The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee may be exposed to periods of dexterous physical activity including sitting, standing, walking, and lifting.
