Job summary:

Vighter Medical Group requires one (1) Flight Surgeon to provide medical services at the 325th Medical Group in the Flight Medicine Clinic. Services are normally provided Monday - Friday between 07:00 - 18:00 hours.

Principle Accountabilities:

+ Locate, interpret, and apply current regulations including: AFI 48-123, AFI 36-2905, AFI 10-203, DoD 5210.42R, AFI 48-149 and AFMAN 13-501

+ Provides health care to beneficiaries assigned to the Flight Medicine Clinic, Occupational Health Clinic, or other civilian Flight Medicine physician positions as defined by the MTF. These tasks include performing primary care and occupational health clinician duties and the associated administrative tasks

+ Care includes, but is not limited to, continuing comprehensive health maintenance and the provision of medical care, including preventive medicine, behavioral health, occupational health, and community health

+ The civilian Flight Surgeon may become the primary care manager for a panel of patients. As PCM, the Flight Surgeon will be the primary person responsible for the management of the health and wellness of his/her assigned patients

Knowledge & Skills:

+ Must have exceptional customer service skills

+ Shall be proficient in English

Experience & Education:

+ Board Certified in any specialty and 3 years of US Military Flight Surgeon experience

+ Board certification in Aerospace Medicine is highly recommended

+ Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the last 10 years having served as a privileged flight surgeon at a US Military installation

+ Must have a minimum of 35 hours of direct patient contact in the past year

+ Experienced with US military medical standards to conduct special operational evaluations including, but not limited to, PHA for flyers/special duty personnel and initial certification exams for flying/special duty applicants

+ Aeromedical disposition for flying/special operational duty

+ Experience conducting adaptability rating assessment for military special duty applicants

+ Experience applying medical, fitness and profiling standards IAW AFIs 48-123, 36-2905 and 10-203 (including profiling and duty restrictions as Profile Officer)

+ Experience providing primary care for active duty personnel and their families

Physical Requirements:

+ Must be physically, dentally, and mentally fit for assignment

+ Must be able to stand and sit for more than 8 hours per day

+ Must be willing to work long hours as necessary

+ Must be able to walk up & down stairs

+ Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and carry up to 10 ft.

+ Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders

+ Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print

+ Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear

+ Must be able to perform duties in an indoor office or outdoor environment

+ Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation

+ Must undergo urine drug testing
