A Lineman - Transmission
oWork safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized transmission work.
oCapable of leading crew members in the absence of the Foreman.
oStringing overhead wire.
oSetting poles and anchors.
oTroubleshooting problems on transmission systems.
oFrequently works with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.
oMaintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
oDoes all other related work as required to complete the job.
oMust be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
oAble to perform rigorous physical labor.
oAble to identify transmission primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
oProficient in all aspects of transmission line work.
oAble to obtain knowledge of hot stick work on energized lines.
oProficient in understanding and reading blueprints.
oAble to properly sag wire.
oCapable of leading crew in assembly and erection of structures to all heights.
oUnderstands dead ending and sagging operations for all conductors.
oCapable of executing hot line work on conductor systems.
oProficient at operation of digger derrick.
oAble to obtain knowledge in bare hand work - 44KV & 100KV.
oProficient in Pole/Tower Climbing.
oProficient in all aspects of heavy lifting and rigging.
oMust be familiar with induced voltage.
oUnderstands grounding procedures.
oCapable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
oCapable of properly installing and removing PPE and cover up.
oMust be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so.
oUnderstands how to phase out a line using phasing sticks.
oUnderstands proper use of phasing sticks
oAble to identify and locate puller and tensioner setups.
oCapable of planning safe work based on a job print or work order.
oUnderstands how to obtain a one shot on a recloser.
oUnderstands minimum approach distance.
oUnderstands flag and tag procedures.
oCapable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape.
oMust be able to effectively conduct a pre-job or tailgate briefing.
oMust be able to safely perform a reconductoring job.
oCapable of safely installing and removing mechanical jumpers.
oAble to properly inspect rubber goods, cover and PPE.
o5-year minimum of recent field experience.
oAble to read and communicate effectively in English.
oAble to obtain a Commercial Driver's License permit within 60 days of employment.
oA Commercial Driver's License is preferred.
oAble to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
oAble to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
oAble to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
oAble to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE.
oWilling to work over-time when requested.
oWillingness to glove/work high voltage transmission lines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
